South West Gauteng TVET College is supported by NSFAS. More than a million students will be receiving financial assistance in 2024 according to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). Here’s what you should know if you’re thinking about enrolling at South West Gauteng TVET College but are unsure if NSFAS support SWGC.
For the 2024 academic year, applications are now being taken at South West Gauteng TVET College. It is encouraged for prospective students to apply to the college to pursue their education. While attending college is expensive, students from households making less than R350,000 a year can apply for Nsfas bursaries from South West Gauteng TVET College in collaboration with DHET, which would assist them in covering the cost of their education. Is SWGC funded by NSFAS?
- YES, they do. Being one of South Africa’s authorised public TVET colleges, South West Gauteng qualifies for NSFAS financing. According to the bursary plan, NSFAS provides financial help to about 95% of students participating in TVET college courses.
SWGC Bursaries Application End Date 2024
- Applications for YES are being accepted now and will close on January 31, 2024.
The NSFAS is now accepting applications for 2024. Please send in a grant proposal for NSFAS before January 31, 2024. The revised application deadline for 2024 is January 31, 2024. Please send your application as soon as possible, as it will not be approved if it is received after the deadline.
SWGC Bursaries Application Steps
- Prospective students must apply online at www.swgc.co.za and select the NSFAS emblem located at the top of the webpage OR http://www.nsfas.org.za/content/ if they decide to study at the college through the NSFAS Bursary.
- Returning students who were sponsored by the NSFAS and who passed will not need to reapply because the bursary will be extended right away in the New Year.
- Anyone who has been granted a bursary is qualified to enrol.
- Students who do not qualify for a bursary or whose Means Test results show that they do not need financial assistance must pay the minimum registration fee of 20% of the programme cost, as shown in the price list on the college’s website, www.swgc.co.za, and enter into a payment agreement with the college to cover the remaining balance of their fees.
- Students can go to campus and apply if they don’t have access to the internet.
Documents Required To Apply SWGC Bursary
To apply for the NSFAS bursary, you will be required to have certified and scanned copies of the following documents:
- Identity Document/Birth Certificate
- Latest Academic Results
- Proof of parents’ income (If parent/s employed)
- Death Certificate/s (If parent/s deceased)
- Doctor’s Certificate (If permanently disabled)
SWGC Bursaries Allowances
According to the most recent DHET standards, the funds allocated for housing, stipend, transportation, and educational materials must match.
- Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
- Accommodation in a peri-urban area is R18,900 per annum
- Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
- Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350 per annum
- Transport R7000 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum
