Process To Order And Receive Laptop For TVET Student

Students at tvet colleges will have a chance to order for a laptop through these steps.

  • Register:

Students at TVET colleges supported by NSFAS: In order to enrol in classes in 2021, you must be a continuing student who was registered in 2020.

University students supported by NSFAS: Any public institution requires you to be registered in order to enrol in classes; both new and returning students may apply for a learning device.

  • Fill out the DLD form:

Gather the Digital Learning Device (DLD) form, fill it out, and turn it into the Financial Aid Office (FAO) on campus. Place your laptop order on the NSFAS website, www.nsfas.org.za, on the DLD online order portal. Your order and your personal information will be verified by NSFAS and your organisation.

  • Collection:

After the verification process is over, our service providers will get an order for your laptop, and the equipment will be shipped out for delivery. Your university or the laptop service provider will contact you to schedule pickup or delivery when your laptop is ready.

Recall that after you are called to arrange for the delivery and pickup of the device, nobody else may accept or pick up the laptop on your behalf; you have to be present and sign before it is given to you.

  • Identification:

Before getting your device, you must present your ID or birth certificate and proof of academic registration or student card from your institution.

  • Agree to the terms and conditions:

Before you can receive your learning device, you must accept the terms and conditions that have been outlined by your university.

  • Payment for laptop:

Students who are not eligible for NSFAS funding but still need a device should speak with their universities first. They will be the ones paying for the equipment, thus they must accept the terms of payment as laid out by the college.

As a student receiving NSFAS funding, you must sign the acknowledgement receipt for the digital learning device and present a valid ID and evidence of enrollment, such as your student card, upon receipt of the equipment. Additionally, you will have to accept the terms and conditions of the device as specified by your educational institution.

What Does The Bursary For TVet Colleges Cover Aside From Laptops?

NSFAS provides laptops to TVET college students, but in addition, the following are some additional benefits of the programme:

  • Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
  • Accommodation in a peri-urban area is R18,900 per annum
  • Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
