Who is Eligible To Apply for NSFAS 2024

In order for you to qualify for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme, you must meet the following criteria:

• hold a current ID and be a South African citizen.
• Be a student enrolled for the first time in TVET or university
• The annual income of a household cannot be more than R350,000.
• Must meet the academic requirements for admission to a university or TVET college
• The annual household income of individuals with impairments should not surpass R600,000.

The completion of the following extensive stages is required for the NSFAS application process.

• To get started, visit the official NSFAS website at www.nsfas.org.za.
• Locate and select the “myNSFAS” option from the page’s right-side menu.
• To create your “myNSFAS” account, click this link: https://my.nsfas.org.za.
• To access your account, enter your ID number, which also serves as your login.
• Locate and select the “Apply” tab to start your application after logging in.
• Complete each form completely, entering all requested personal information.
• Proceed to attach and upload the necessary supporting documents for your application.
• Finally, submit your application to undergo a thorough review and assessment.

The NSFAS online application for the following academic year will open in October 2023. Applicants can view and submit award applications only on the day of the NSFAS application opening.

• A certified duplicate of your identification document.
• Certified copy of a letter from SASSA
• Certified copy of the ID document of each household member including parents or legal guardian.

If either of your parents is deceased, please provide a certified copy of the death certificate. If your parents are divorced, please provide a certified copy of the divorce decree.

Tuition and certain other study-related costs are covered by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme, NSFAS Funding Bursary for 2024–2025. These costs include:

• Accommodation: NSFAS covers the cost of on-campus or off-campus student housing.
• Textbooks and study materials: NSFAS can provide you with a study allowance to purchase the required textbooks and materials for your course.
