If a student plans to enrol in a public university or college in 2024, they can now apply for financial aid under the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. NSFAS. Since TVET colleges and the other 26 public universities only accept students from a particular economic background, the government organisation NSFAS offers loans and scholarships to help these students enrol. If a student is eligible for assistance through the National Student Aid Scheme, they must submit their 2024 applications for the National Student Aid Scheme before the closing date (NSFAS). As scheduled, the NSFAS Portal will close at 11:59 PM on January 31, 2024.

NSFAS 2024 Application End Date

Applications are being accepted by the NSFAS for the year 2024. Kindly submit a grant proposal by January 31, 2024, for NSFAS. January 31, 2024, is the new deadline for applications for 2024. Your application will not be accepted if it is received after the deadline, so please send it on time!

• South African citizens or permanent residents
• SASSA grant recipients
• Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year
• Persons living with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.

Disqualified Applicant To Apply For NSFAS In 2024

• Students who have completed a previous qualification.
• Students with a combined household income of more than R350 000 per annum.

Students who previously applied were accepted and were given financial support. If they pass all of their modules and fulfil the academic standards, they will get automatic funding for the length of their study.

NSFAS Bursary Allowance

The amounts listed for housing, a living allowance, transportation, and educational supplies must match the most recent approved DHET requirements.

UNIVERSITY

• Accommodation
  As per the actual costs charged by the university (costs for private accommodation must not exceed costs for university residence)

• Incidental/personal care allowance of R2900 per annum for students in catered residences

TVET

• Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
• Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350  per annum
• Transport R7000 per annum
• Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum

NSFAS Application Document To Send In 2024

Documents Needed for NSFAS Online Application 2024-2025 are

1. Photocopy of your Identity Document.
2. photocopy of a SASSA letter
3. photocopy of the ID document of each household member including parents or legal guardian.
4. Certified copy of your latest academic transcript or exam results
5. If either of your parents is deceased, please provide a certified copy of the death certificate.
6. If your parents are divorced, please provide a certified copy of the divorce decree.

 NSFAS Application Procedure In 2024

1. start by visiting the official NSFAS website: www.nsfas.org.za
2. find and select the “myNSFAS” option, found on the page’s right-hand side menu.
3. Set up your “myNSFAS” account using this link: https://my.nsfas.org.za
4. To access your account, log in using your ID number, which will also serve as your username.
5. after logging in, find and click on the ‘Apply’ tab to initiate your application.
6. Fill in every section, providing all the personal details as prompted.
7. Proceed to attach and upload the necessary supporting documents for your application.
8. Finally, submit your application to undergo a thorough review and assessment.

 NSFAS online application for the subsequent academic year will become active. Only on the NSFAS application opening date are applicants able to see and submit award applications.

For what duration is NSFAS funding you?

Only a maximum of five years of support depending on funding availability each year will be provided by NSFAS if you meet the means test requirements. Paying for your education up front will be required until you graduate if you switch courses frequently and take longer than five years to finish your degree.
