What Supporting Documents Are Required When I Apply For NSFAS
All applicants are required to submit:
- Certified copy of your Identity Document.
- Certified copy of a SASSA letter
- Certified copy of the ID document of each household member including parents or legal guardian.
- Certified copy of your latest academic transcript or exam results
- If either of your parents is deceased, please provide a certified copy of the death certificate.
- If your parents are divorced, please provide a certified copy of the divorce decree.
- Certified copy of your ID, not older than 3 months A signed and completed consent form.
- If you are dependent on your parents/guardian/spouse, please provide Certified ID copies of parent/s, guardian, spouse not older than 3 months and Proof of income of parent, guardian or spouse (payslip or appointment letter If you are self-sufficient (no parent/guardian support) please provide: Proof of income (payslip or appointment letter).
- If you have a disability, please provide a completed and signed Annexure A (if your information is not pre-populated on the portal). If you are an orphan, please provide the completed and signed Declaration Form, Other documents required, if applicable: Retrenchment letter / UIF documentation; Death certificate/s; Divorce decree.
Who Can Apply for NSFAS 2024–2025?
To qualify for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme, you must meet the following criteria:
- All recipients of SASSA grants
- Email and cell phone numbers are essential.
- possess a valid ID and be a citizen of South Africa.
- Be a first-time entering university or TVET college student
- Household income must not exceed R350,000 per annum
- Must meet the academic requirements for admission to a university or TVET college
- The annual household income of individuals with impairments should not surpass R600,000.
