NSFAS Allowance Dates 2024 For TVET Colleges

National Students Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) allowance under the auspices of the South African Government and the Department of Higher education (DHET) is offered to public institutions such as colleges and universities, to financial assist students in the state of financila need. Theses allowance provides students with tuition fees, monthly stipends, transportation, Books, accommodation etc.

The NSFAS releases some financial burns from students who are eligible and are academically good or are willing to enroll in any accredited institution. To receive these allowances you must submit an application for it to be approved  by NSFAS.

What Does NSFAS Allowance Cover 2024?

NSFAS allowance covers the following :

UNIVERSITY

  • Accommodation
  • As per the actual costs charged by the university (costs for private accommodation must not exceed costs for university residence)
  •  Transport (up to 40 km from institution) R7 500  per annum
  • Living allowance R15, 000  per annum
  • Book allowances R5200 per annum
  • Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum for students in catered residences

TVET COLLEGES

  •  Accommodation in an urban area R24,000 per annum
  • Accommodation in an peri-urban area R18,900 per annum
  • Accommodation in an rural area R15,750 per annum
  • Transport (up to 40 km from institution) R7,350  per annum
  • Transport R7000 per annum
  •  Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum

Who Is Eligible for NSFAS Allowance 2024?

The Government initiative (NSFAS) is offered to eligible individuals who r4eqauire financial assistance . In order to receive NSFAS Allowance, you mus be eligible, therefore all applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • All South African citizens
  • All SASSA grant recipients qualifies for funding
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
  • Person with disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
  • Students who started studying before 2018 whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.

NSFAS Application Requirements 2024

The following are required of all Eligible Applicants:

  • Certified copy of your Identity Document.
  • Certified copy of the birth certificate.
  • Certified copies of ID for each household member including parents or legal guardian.
  • If parents are divorced, a certified copy of the divorce decree.
  • If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income is required.
  • Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form if applicable.
  • Applicants with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form.

How To Apply For NSFAS Allowance 2024

Follow the below procedure to  apply for NSFAS allowance online;

  • Visit the official website of NSFAS at: www.nsfas.org.za
  •  Click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
  • Create a myNSFAS account.
  • Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab.
  •  Complete the sections on the screen.
  • Upload the required supporting documents.
  • Click on the “Submit” button to finish the application.
