Nsfas Application Requirements
Applicants must note these application requirements before applying for financial aid.
- Applicants must provide a copy of their South African birth certificate/copy of ID document/Temporary ID
- Applicants must provide a copy of South African birth certificate/copy of ID document/Temporary ID of parent(s)/guardian/spouse
- Applicants must provide proof of income (where applicable) – student/parent(s)/guardian or spouse (not older than 3 months.
- Applicants must provide SASSA recipients with no proof of income required.
- Applicants students recognised as vulnerable children (e.g. Orphans) must submit a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration Form completed by the Social worker
- Applicants with disabilities must complete and submit their Disability Annexure A form.
Nsfas Application Eligibilities
Applicants who fall within these categories can apply for financial aid.
- Applicants must be a South African citizen
- Applicants must have SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 yearly
- A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 yearly
- Applicants who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 yearly.

Applicants should follow these application steps to apply for financial aid
- Applicants must go to www.nsfas.org.za.
- Applicants must click the myNSFAS tab.
- Applicants must click register.
- Applicants must tick the box to allow NSFAS to verify their details.
- Applicants must then capture the ID number as it is stated on their ID document.
- Applicants must type in their full name and surname as per their ID document.
- Applicants must type in your current email address.
- Applicants must confirm their email address.
