At South West Gauteng TVET College, applications are now being accepted for the 2024 academic year. Prospective students are urged to apply to the college to continue their studies. Even though going to college is expensive, students from families with annual incomes under R350,000 are eligible to apply for Nsfas bursaries, which are funded by South West Gauteng TVET College in partnership with DHET and help with educational expenses. Is SWGC funded by NSFAS?
- YES, they do. As a recognised public TVET institution in South Africa, South West Gauteng is eligible for NSFAS funding. The bursary plan states that approximately 95% of students enrolled in TVET college courses receive financial assistance from NSFAS.
Application Deadline for SWGC NSFAS Bursary
- The deadline for YES applications is January 31, 2024, and they are still being accepted.
Applications are being accepted by the NSFAS for 2024. Kindly submit a grant proposal by January 31, 2024, for NSFAS. January 31, 2024, is the new deadline for applications for 2024. Your application will not be accepted if it is received after the deadline, so please submit it as soon as you can.
SWGC NSFAS Application Steps
- If they choose to study at the college through the NSFAS Bursary, prospective students must apply online at www.swgc.co.za and pick the NSFAS emblem situated at the top of the webpage OR http://www.nsfas.org.za/content/.
- Those returning students who were sponsored by the NSFAS and who were successful will have the bursary renewed immediately in the New Year, saving them from having to reapply.
- Enrollment is open to all recipients of bursaries.
- The minimum registration fee of 20% of the programme cost, as indicated in the price list on the college’s website, www.swgc.co.za, must be paid by students who are not eligible for a bursary or whose Means Test results indicate that they do not require financial assistance. They must also enter into a payment agreement with the college to cover the remaining balance of their fees.
- If they are unable to use the internet, students can still apply in person on campus.

You must have scanned copies of the following documents that have been certified to apply for the NSFAS bursary:
- Identity Document/Birth Certificate
- Latest Academic Results
- Proof of parents’ income (If parent/s employed)
- Death Certificate/s (If parent/s deceased)
- Doctor’s Certificate (If permanently disabled)
What Does SWGC NSFAS Allowance Cover
The monies allotted for accommodation, stipend, transportation, and educational materials must match, the most recent DHET criteria.
- Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
- Accommodation in a peri-urban area is R18,900 per annum
- Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
- Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350 per annum
- Transport R7000 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum
