After An NSFAS Rejection, Who Is Eligible To Appeal

A student may appeal if their financial assistance application was turned down or if their help was withheld.

The appeal decisions are subject to budget availability.
Appeals will only be considered for students who have applied to NSFAS for Financial Aid.

After NSFAS Rejection, Who Is Not Enable to Appeal?

Students cannot file an appeal if they

Are registered for a qualification that NSFAS does not fund;
They have reached N+2 (or N+3 in the case of students with disabilities).
The student is a gap year student whom NSFAS previously denied financial aid to because s/he did not meet the academic eligibility criteria.
If the institution has not submitted its registration record to NSFAS or has submitted an incorrect registration record such enquiries should be directed to the institution.

Methods for Filing an NSFAS Appeal

Use these procedures to submit an Appeal.

To access the myNSFAS website, click this link.
Open your myNSFAS account and log in.
Select the option to “Track Funding Progress.”
Examine the tabs for application progress.
If your application status reflects an unsuccessful message, you may submit an appeal by clicking on the ‘Submit Appeal Tab’.
Once you are on the ‘Application Appeal’ page, you can see the reason for your unsuccessful application status.
You are then able to choose the appeal reason.
Upload certified supporting documents to support your reason.
Click ‘Submit Appeal’.

Students may track the progress of their appeal on their myNSFAS account.
